Engineering salaries are increasingly outpaced by the other professions in the United States, and that trend is expected to continue in the coming years, according to the National Science Foundation (NSF).
In its latest annual survey of engineering salaries, the NSF found that engineering salaries in the U.S. grew just 0.6% between 2014 and 2019, the first annual decline since 2007.
Meanwhile, the average salary for a similar position in other professions rose 1.6%, according to figures published by the National Association of Colleges and Employers.
“There are significant pay differences in the fields,” said Jeff Bostock, a research analyst for the NSFL, which advocates for a more diverse workforce in the sciences and engineering.
“It’s important to recognize that the field of engineering is not unique.
It is also very diverse.
And so if we’re looking at engineering, we’re seeing the highest pay difference between the field and other fields in the country.”
So what we really need to do is make sure that people who are making the most money are also the people who have the most diversity.
“Bostock said that while engineering salaries were rising in recent years, they had not risen in a way that reflected the level of diversity in the field.”
The gap between the pay of a top engineer and the average engineer was actually not as wide as we’d like to see,” he said.
Bostocks data was based on salaries from the United Federation of Teachers’ Federal Survey of Engineering Professionals (FSE) and the U-M-E-R-T-E Survey of U. S. College Students (USCESS).
It showed that the median salary for an engineering engineer rose just 2.7% in 2019.”
I think that’s a real issue.
It’s more of a middle class engineer who has a lot to contribute to society. “
And they’re able to move around so much, so it is not just the top engineer who’s getting a lot.”
It’s more of a middle class engineer who has a lot to contribute to society.
And then there are a lot more people who, in the case of women, who are getting very, very little pay.
“That’s a problem.
And it has a real impact on the quality of life for those people.”
But in a lot other fields, you have people who can move around a lot, and you can have a little flexibility,” he added.
Bolstered by the increase in the number of engineering graduates, the median pay for a top engineering engineer jumped 9.3% between 2016 and 2019.
For the average engineering engineer, that number jumped 3.6%.”
He said that the pay gap could be a sign that the STEM fields need to develop a more inclusive workforce.””
But it is an issue that I think is really, really, very important.”
He said that the pay gap could be a sign that the STEM fields need to develop a more inclusive workforce.
“We’re really looking at this as a gender gap issue,” Bower said.
He noted that a gender wage gap can be caused by factors such as a person’s job experience or qualifications, and he said that, in general, a STEM career has higher wages than other fields.
“You’re looking for someone who has the right combination of skills,” Bowers said.
“This is something that’s really, I think, going to affect the quality and quality of lives for a lot people.”
According to the NSFW, the survey of about 2,500 engineers found that the majority of engineers (57.9%) are women, with more than half of engineering engineers earning $50,000 or less a year.
“Women represent more than two-thirds of engineering professionals, and it’s a very diverse field,” Bols said.
He said the increase was particularly noteworthy in engineering.
The percentage of engineers with a bachelor’s degree or higher has risen by more than 3% over the past five years.
But, while the overall number of women in engineering has risen, the percentage of men in the workforce has declined.
The median annual salary for men in engineering rose 2.6 percentage points over the same time period.
In the survey, the largest pay gap was seen for engineers with bachelor’s degrees.
The average engineer earned $59,700, compared to $57,900 for women with the same degree.
The largest gap was also seen for people who had a bachelor degree, but with a high school diploma.
The average engineer’s median salary also rose, by more then $6,000, when compared to the same-age engineer.
Bostays data found that a high-school diploma is the preferred type of education for a male engineer.
Bols said the NSFS should be commended for its efforts to create more diversity in its workforce.
“There is so much work that needs
